Docker’s Upgraded Plan Updates: Key Changes and What They Mean for You
Recently, Docker announced significant updates to their subscription plans. What’s changing and what is the impact on your current containerisation operations?
- Docker Hub: To ensure sustainability and growth, Docker Hub has introduced consumption-based pricing for image pulls and storage. This update includes enhanced usage monitoring tools, allowing customers to better understand and manage their usage.
- Docker Build Cloud: Per-seat licenses for Build Cloud have been removed, and included build minutes for Pro, Team, and Business plans have been increased. This change enables faster, more efficient builds across projects, with options to add build minutes as needs grow.
- Docker Scout: Team and Business plans now offer continuous vulnerability analysis for an unlimited number of Scout-enabled repositories. The integration of Docker Scout’s health scores helps customers maintain security and compliance with ease.
- Testcontainers Cloud: The per-seat licensing model for Testcontainers Cloud has been eliminated, and cloud runtime minutes are now bundled with Docker Pro, Team, and Business plans. This change simplifies access and helps users optimize testing workflows, ultimately saving time and resources.
The updated plans took effect on December 10, 2024, with Docker Hub limits starting March 1, 2025. There are no charges for Hub image pulls or storage applied between December 10, 2024, and February 28, 2025. Existing customers will receive the new entitlements at their next renewal date on or after December 10, 2024.
